Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, was in Yemen when a woman was brought before him who had been intimate with three men during a single period of purity. He asked two of them, "Do you both acknowledge this child as belonging to this man?" They refused.Then he asked another two, "Do you both acknowledge this child as belonging to this man?" They refused.Then he asked another two, continuing to question them in pairs about each one, but none would acknowledge the child. So he drew lots between them and assigned the child to the one whose name came up in the draw, and he ordered him to pay two-thirds of the blood-money to the other two.When this was reported to the Prophet ﷺ, he laughed until his back molars showed.

كان علي رضي الله تعالى عنه باليمن فأتي بامرأة وطئها ثلاثة نفر في طهر واحد فسأل اثنين أتقران لهذا بالولد فلم يقرا ثم سأل اثنين أتقران لهذا بالولد فلم يقرا ثم سأل اثنين حتى فرغ يسأل اثنين اثنين عن واحد فلم يقروا ثم أقرع بينهم فألزم الولد الذي خرجت عليه القرعة وجعل عليه ثلثي الدية فرفع ذلك للنبي ﷺ فضحك حتى بدت نواجذه
