I was with Zayd bin Arqam when a man came from the farthest part of Fustat and asked him about a matter. Zayd said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Am I not closer to the believers than their own selves?"They replied, "Yes indeed."He said, "Whoever I am his master, Ali is his master."Maymun said, Some of the people related to me from Zayd that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him and oppose whoever opposes him."

كنت عند زيد بن أرقم فجاء رجل من أقصى الفسطاس فسأله عن داء فقال إن رسول الله ﷺ قال ألست أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم قالوا بلى قال من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه قال ميمون فحدثني بعض القوم عن زيد أن رسول الله ﷺ قال اللهم وال من والاه وعاد من عاداه
