I asked Abdullah bin Abu Awfa, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ leave a will?"He replied, "No."I asked, "Then how is it that he commanded the believers to make a will but did not make one himself?"He answered, "He bequeathed the Book of Allah ."
حدثنا حجاج قال قال مالك يعني ابن مغول أخبرني
قلت لعبد الله بن أبي أوفى أوصى رسول الله ﷺ قال لا قلت فكيف أمر المؤمنين بالوصية ولم يوص قال أوصى بكتاب الله عز وجل
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy and well-known, and Talha is Ibn Musarrif. Muslim narrated the hadith, 3/1256, no. 1634, in the chapter on bequests, leaving a bequest for one who has nothing. Tirmidhi, 4/432, no. 2119, and he said, hasan sahih gharib. Nasai, 6/240, no. 3620. Ibn Majah, 2/900, no. 2696. Darimi, 2/496, no. 3180.
