Abdullah bin Shaddad and Abu Burda disagreed about salaf transactions, so they sent me to Abdullah bin Abu Awfa to ask him. He said, "We used to make advance-payment transactions during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, for wheat, barley, and Zabib, or dates." He was uncertain whether it was dates or Zabib. "And this was for goods that they had with them, or that we did not see with them."Then I went to Abdul-Rahman bin Abza, and he said the same.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة وحجاج حدثني شعبة قال سمعت
اختلف عبد الله بن شداد وأبو بردة في السلف فبعثاني إلى عبد الله بن أبي أوفى فسألته فقال كنا نسلف في عهد رسول الله ﷺ وأبي بكر وعمر رضي الله تعالى عنه في الحنطة والشعير والزبيب أو التمر شك في التمر والزبيب وما هو عندهم أو ما نراه عندهم ثم أتيت عبد الرحمن بن أبزى فقال مثل ذلك
Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Abu Mujalid is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in Bukhari. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari, 4/434, no. 2254 (Fath), in the chapter on the forward sale, the forward sale for a specified term.
