The people of the mosque sent me to Ibn Abu Awfa to ask him what the Prophet ﷺ did with the food taken at Khaybar. I came to him and asked him about it.I said, "Did he take a fifth from it?"He replied, "No, it was less than that. Whenever any of us wanted some of it, he would simply take what he needed."
حدثنا هشيم أخبرنا الشيباني
بعثني أهل المسجد إلى ابن أبي أوفى أسأله ما صنع النبي ﷺ في طعام خيبر فأتيته فسألته عن ذلك قال وقلت هل خمسه قال لا كان أقل من ذلك قال وكان أحدنا إذا أراد منه شيئا أخذ منه حاجته
Its isnad is sahih, and the hadith previously appeared at length regarding the dispute over the fifth share of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Khaybar. See, "We leave no inheritance, what we leave behind is charity," 1781.
