I was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the conquest of Khaybar. When they were defeated, we fell upon their belongings, and the people seized whatever household goods they could find. It was not long before the cooking pots were boiling. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that the pots be overturned, and he distributed the spoils among us, allotting one sheep for every ten men.
Its isnad is sahih. Its narrators are trustworthy and well known, and similar has preceded many times. See Bukhari 5/121, no. 2477, Fath, and Muslim 3/1538, no. 1937. Al-harth means goods and property, and what is meant by it here is sheep and camels.
