I was sitting with Utba bin Farqad while he was speaking about Ramadan, when a man from among the companions of Muhammad ﷺ entered upon us. When Utba saw him, he was awed by him and fell silent. So the man spoke about Ramadan.He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say about Ramadan, 'During it, the gates of the Fire are closed, the gates of Paradise are opened, and the devils are chained. An angel calls out during it, "Seeker of good, rejoice! Seeker of evil, hold back!" until Ramadan comes to an end.'"

كنت عند عتبة بن فرقد وهو يحدث عن رمضان قال فدخل علينا رجل من أصحاب محمد ﷺ فلما رآه عتبة هابه فسكت قال فحدث عن رمضان قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول في رمضان تغلق فيه أبواب النار وتفتح فيه أبواب الجنة وتصفد فيه الشياطين قال وينادي فيه ملك يا باغي الخير أبشر يا باغي الشر أقصر حتى ينقضي رمضان
