We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about three matters, and he did not grant us any concession in any of them.We asked him to return Abu Bakrah to us, for he had been our slave and had embraced Islam before we did. He replied, "No, he is the freed servant of Allah and then the freed servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Then we asked him to grant us a concession regarding winter, since our land was a cold land, meaning concerning the ritual purification, but he granted us no concession. We also asked him to grant us a concession regarding the use of gourd vessels, but he granted us no concession in that either.
Its isnad is sahih. Shabbak Qaysi, the blind man of Kufah, is trustworthy, and Muslim narrated from him. This hadith has already appeared, both in wording and in its chain of transmission, at 17459. Haythami said, in 4/245, "The narrators of Ahmad are trustworthy."
