Numan bin Bashir reported,

The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He went out and prayed two units, then made supplication, then prayed two more units, then made supplication, until the eclipse cleared.Then he said, "Some men claim that when the sun or the moon is eclipsed, it is eclipsed only because of the death of one of the great ones. That is not so. Rather, they are two of the creations of Allah , and when Allah manifests Himself to anything of His creation, it humbles itself before Him."

عن النعمان بن بشير قال

انكسفت الشمس على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فخرج فكان يصلي ركعتين ويسأل ويصلي ركعتين ويسأل حتى انجلت فقال إن رجالا يزعمون أن الشمس والقمر إذا انكسف واحد منهما فإنما ينكسف لموت عظيم من العظماء وليس كذلك ولكنهما خلقان من خلق الله عز وجل فإذا تجلى الله عز وجل لشيء من خلقه خشع له
