Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

When Amr returned, the descendants of Muamar bin Habib came to dispute with him over the right of guardianship of their sister before Umar bin Khattab .Umar said, "I will judge between you according to what I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whatever a child or a parent leaves behind belongs to their paternal relatives, whoever they may be.'"So he ruled in our favor regarding it.

حدثنا عمرو بن شعيب عن أبيه عن جده قال

فلما رجع عمرو جاء بنو معمر بن حبيب يخاصمونه في ولاء أختهم إلى عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه فقال أقضي بينكم بما سمعت من رسول الله ﷺ يقول ما أحرز الولد أو الوالد فهو لعصبته من كان فقضى لنا به
