Two women got into a fight, and one of them struck the other with a tent pole and killed her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the blood-money was due from the paternal male relatives of the killer, and that for the unborn child in the victim's womb, a slave (ghurrah) was due as compensation.The Arabi said, "Are you making me pay compensation for one who neither ate, nor drank, nor cried out, nor even made a sound at birth? Such a thing should be disregarded."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Is this rhymed prose like that of the Arabis? Compensation for the child in her womb is a slave."

أن امرأتين ضربت إحداهما الأخرى بعمود فسطاط فقتلتها فقضى رسول الله ﷺ بالدية على عصبة القاتلة وفيما في بطنها غرة قال الأعرابي أتغرمني من لا أكل ولا شرب ولا صاح فاستهل مثل ذلك يطل فقال رسول الله ﷺ أسجع كسجع الأعراب وبما في بطنها غرة
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy leading authorities. Ibrahim is the son of Yazid Nakhai, the jurist, and Ubayda bin Nudayla Khuzai is among the trustworthy successors, and his hadith appears in Muslim.
