I went early in the morning to Safwan bin Assal al-Muradi to ask him about wiping over leather socks.He asked, "What brought you here?"I replied, "The pursuit of knowledge."He said, "Shall I not give you good news?" Then he traced the hadith back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, "The angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with what he seeks." And he mentioned the hadith.

غدوت على صفوان بن عسال المرادي أسأله عن المسح على الخفين فقال ما جاء بك قلت ابتغاء العلم قال ألا أبشرك ورفع الحديث إلى رسول الله ﷺ قال إن الملائكة لتضع أجنحتها لطالب العلم رضا بما يطلب فذكر الحديث
