The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "Tomorrow I will ride out to the Jews. Do not greet them with salaam first, and if they greet you, respond by saying, 'And upon you.'"
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق وابن أبي عدي عن محمد بن إسحاق حدثني ابن أبي حبيب وقال يزيد عن ابن أبي حبيب عن مرثد بن عبد الله اليزني
قال لنا رسول الله ﷺ إني راكب غدا إلى يهود فلا تبدءوهم بالسلام وإذا سلموا عليكم فقولوا وعليكم
Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Ishaq explicitly said "he narrated to us" through the route of Ibn Abu Adi. The hadith has already appeared with its wording and its chain at 17228. It was also narrated with similar wording by Bukhari 11/42, no. 6258 Fath, and Muslim 4/1705, no. 2163, and Ibn Abu Shayba 8/442, no. 5812.
