He had met the Prophet ﷺ. His mother, Zaynab bint Humayd, took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, take his pledge of allegiance."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "He is too young."He then wiped his head and prayed for him. He used to sacrifice a single sheep on behalf of his entire household.
حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد حدثنا سعيد يعني ابن أبي أيوب حدثني أبو عقيل زهرة بن معبد التيمي
وكان قد أدرك النبي ﷺ وذهبت به أمه زينب ابنة حميد إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالت يا رسول الله بايعه فقال النبي ﷺ هو صغير فمسح رأسه ودعا له وكان يضحي بالشاة الواحدة عن جميع أهله
Its isnad is sahih. Zahra bin Mabad al-Masri is a trustworthy, devout man, well known, previously mentioned. The hadith with similar wording is found in Bukhari 3/184, Shab edition, in Luqta, Partnership in Food, and 9/98, Shab edition, in Ahkam, The Pledge of a Minor, and in Abu Dawud 3/352, no. 2942, in Kharaj, What Has Been Said Concerning the Pledge, and in Bayhaqi 6/79 and 8/148.
