While we were with the Prophet ﷺ as he stood at Arafat, he said, "People, every household is required, every year, to offer a sacrifice and an Atirah."Then he asked, "Do you know what an Atirah is?"Ibn Awn said, I do not know what reply they gave.He said, "It is what people call the Rajabiyyah."
حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي عن ابن عون عن أبي رملة قال حدثناه
ونحن مع النبي ﷺ وهو واقف بعرفات فقال يا أيها الناس إن على كل أهل بيت أو على كل أهل بيت في كل عام أضحاة وعتيرة قال تدرون ما العتيرة قال ابن عون فلا أدري ما ردوا قال هذه التي يقول الناس الرجبية
Its isnad is daif, due to the anonymity of Abu Ramlah, whose name was Amir.It is likewise found in Abu Dawud 3/226, no. 2788, in the book of sacrifices, the chapter on what has been reported concerning the obligation of sacrifices, and in Nasai 7/168, no. 4224, in the chapter on Fara and Atirah, its beginning, and in Ibn Majah 2/1044, no. 3125, in the book of sacrifices, and in Bayhaqi 9/312.
