Abu Salih reported,

Amr bin As asked permission to enter upon Fatimah, and she granted him permission.He asked, "Is Ali here?"They said, "No."So he left. Then he came back another time and asked permission to enter, saying, "Is Ali here?"They said, "Yes."So he entered upon her. Ali said to him, "What kept you from entering when you did not find me here?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from entering upon women whose husbands are away."

حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش

عن أبي صالح قال

استأذن عمرو بن العاص على فاطمة فأذنت له قال ثم علي قالوا لا قال فرجع ثم استأذن عليها مرة أخرى فقال ثم علي قالوا نعم فدخل عليها فقال له علي ما منعك أن تدخل حين لم تجدني هاهنا قال إن رسول الله ﷺ نهانا أن ندخل على المغيبات
