I said, "Messenger of Allah, I pledge allegiance to you on the condition that my past sins be forgiven."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Islam wipes out whatever came before it, and migration wipes out whatever came before it."Amr said, "By Allah, I was the most bashful of people in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I never could fill my eyes with looking at him, nor did I ever ask him about what I wished, out of shyness, until he passed on to Allah ."
حدثنا حسن قال ثنا ابن لهيعة قال ثنا يزيد بن أبي حبيب قال أخبرني سويد بن قيس عن قيس بن سمي أن
قلت يا رسول الله أبايعك على أن تغفر لي ما تقدم من ذنبي فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن الإسلام يجب ما كان قبله وإن الهجرة تجب ما كان قبلها قال عمرو فوالله إن كنت لأشد الناس حياء من رسول الله ﷺ فما ملأت عيني من رسول الله ﷺ ولا راجعته بما أريد حتى لحق بالله عز وجل حياء منه
Its chain is hasan, because of Ibn Lahia and because of Qays bin Sumayy. Husayni said of him, "He is not well known," but it is stated in Tajil that he is in fact known, his name being Qays bin Sumayy bin Azhar Tujibi, who witnessed the conquest of Egypt, and Saeed bin Yunus identified him.As for Aswad bin Qays, he is Abdi, Abu Qays Kufi, and he is trustworthy, his hadith being relied upon by the group of scholars. The hadith was mentioned previously at 17705.
