The plague broke out, and Amr bin As said, "This is a torment, so disperse and get away from it."Shurahbil bin Hasanah said, "I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Amr is more astray than his family's camel," and perhaps Shuba said, "more astray than his family's camel," and he said, "This is a mercy from your Lord, the supplication of your Prophet, and the manner of death of the righteous before you. So gather together and do not disperse from it."Word of this reached Amr bin As, who said, "He has spoken the truth."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا شعبة قال يزيد بن خمير أخبرني قال سمعت شرحبيل ابن شفعة يحدث
أن الطاعون وقع فقال عمرو بن العاص إنه رجس فتفرقوا عنه وقال شرحبيل ابن حسنة إني قد صحبت رسول الله ﷺ وعمرو أضل من جمل أهله وربما قال شعبة أضل من بعير أهله وأنه قال إنها رحمة ربكم ودعوة نبيكم وموت الصالحين قبلكم فاجتمعوا ولا تفرقوا عنه قال فبلغ ذلك عمرو بن العاص فقال صدق
