Abu Thalaba reported,

A man sat down beside the Prophet of Allah ﷺ wearing a gold ring on his hand. The Prophet ﷺ struck his hand with a small stick he was holding. Then the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him, and the man threw his ring aside. When the Prophet ﷺ looked back at him, he asked, "Where is your ring?"The man replied, "I have thrown it away."The Prophet ﷺ said, "It seems we have caused you pain and made you incur a loss."

حدثني وهب قال حدثنا أبي قال سمعت النعمان يحدث عن الزهري عن عطاء بن يزيد

عن أبي ثعلبة الخشني قال

جلس رجل إلى نبي الله ﷺ وفي يده خاتم من ذهب فقرع النبي ﷺ يده بقضيب كان في يده ثم غفل عنه النبي ﷺ فرمى الرجل بخاتمه فنظر إليه النبي ﷺ فقال أين خاتمك قال ألقيته فقال النبي ﷺ أظننا قد أوجعناك وأغرمناك
