Dukain bin Saeed reported,

We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, four hundred and forty of us, asking him for food. The Prophet ﷺ said to Umar, "Get up and give them something."Umar said, "Messenger of Allah, I have nothing except what will sustain me and the children through the summer." Waki explained that "qayz" in the speech of the Arabs refers to four months. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Get up and give them."Umar replied, "Messenger of Allah, I hear and obey."So Umar got up and we got up with him. He took us up to a chamber of his, drew the key from his waistband, and opened the door. Dukayn said, there in the chamber was a heap of dates resembling a young camel crouching down.Umar said, "Help yourselves."Each man among us took as much as he needed. Then I turned around, and I was among the last of them, and it was as though we had not taken a single date from it.
