Shaddad bin Aws reported,

We were with the Prophet ﷺ when he asked, "Is there any stranger among you?" meaning anyone from the People of the Book.We replied, "No, Messenger of Allah."So he ordered the door to be shut and said, "Raise your hands and say, 'There is no god but Allah.'"We raised our hands for a while, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ lowered his hand and said, "Praise be to Allah. O Allah, You sent me with this word, You commanded me with it, and You promised me Paradise for it, and You do not break Your promise."Then he said, "Rejoice, for Allah has forgiven you."

حدثنا الحكم بن نافع أبو اليمان قال حدثنا إسماعيل بن عياش عن راشد بن داود عن يعلى بن شداد قال

حدثني أبي شداد بن أوس وعبادة بن الصامت حاضر يصدقه قال

كنا عند النبي ﷺ فقال هل فيكم غريب يعني أهل الكتاب فقلنا لا يا رسول الله فأمر بغلق الباب وقال ارفعوا أيديكم وقولوا لا إله إلا الله فرفعنا أيدينا ساعة ثم وضع رسول الله ﷺ يده ثم قال الحمد لله اللهم بعثتني بهذه الكلمة وأمرتني بها ووعدتني عليها الجنة وإنك لا تخلف الميعاد ثم قال أبشروا فإن الله عز وجل قد غفر لكم
