He wept, and someone asked him, "What makes you weep?"He replied, "Something I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. I remembered it, and it brought me to tears. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'What I fear most for my community is associating partners with Allah and hidden desire.'"I said, "Messenger of Allah, will your community associate partners with Allah after you?"He said, "Yes. They will not worship the sun, the moon, stones, or idols, but they will show off in their deeds. As for hidden desire, it is that one of them begins his day fasting, then a desire from among his desires presents itself to him, so he abandons his fast."
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب قال حدثني عبد الواحد بن زيد أخبرنا عبادة بن نسي
أنه بكى فقيل له ما يبكيك قال شيئا سمعته من رسول الله ﷺ يقوله فذكرته فأبكاني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول أتخوف على أمتي الشرك والشهوة الخفية قال قلت يا رسول الله أتشرك أمتك من بعدك قال نعم أما إنهم لا يعبدون شمسا ولا قمرا ولا حجرا ولا وثنا ولكن يراءون بأعمالهم والشهوة الخفية أن يصبح أحدهم صائما فتعرض له شهوة من شهواته فيترك صومه
