The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah folded the earth for me until I saw its eastern and western horizons, and the dominion of my nation will reach what was folded up for me of it. I have been given the two treasures, the white and the red. I asked my Lord
not to destroy my nation by a widespread famine, and not to give an enemy power over them from outside themselves so as to destroy them collectively, and not to make them split into sects, nor cause them to taste the violence of one another. He said, 'Muhammad, when I decree a decree it cannot be revoked. I grant you for your nation that I will not destroy them by a widespread famine, and I will not give an enemy from outside themselves power over them so as to destroy them collectively, even if those gathered against them came from every region of the earth, until some of them destroy others, some of them kill others, and some of them take others captive.'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "I fear nothing for my nation except misguiding leaders. Once the sword is placed among my nation, it will not be lifted from them until the Day of Resurrection."
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are well-known and trustworthy, and Abu Asma Rahbi is Amr bin Marthad, who has come up before frequently under his name. Muslim narrated the hadith in 4/2215, no. 2889, as did Abu Dawud in 4/97, no. 4252, Tirmidhi in 4/472, no. 2176, and Bayhaqi in 9/181, all of them in the chapters on Fitan, with wording close to this. Haythami said, "The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih," as stated in Majma [7/221].
