A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My riding camel has broken down, so give me a mount."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I have nothing to give you as a mount, but go to so-and-so."So he went to him, and that man gave him a mount. He then came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever guides someone to a good deed has a reward like that of the one who performs it."Muhammad said, "My riding camel has indeed broken down."
حدثنا ابن نمير ويعلى ومحمد يعني ابني عبيد قالوا أنا الأعمش عن أبي عمرو الشيباني
أتى النبي ﷺ رجل فقال إني أبدع بي فاحملني قال ما عندي ما أحملك عليه ولكن ائت فلانا فأتاه فحمله فأتى رسول الله ﷺ فأخبره فقال رسول الله ﷺ من دل على خير فله مثل أجر فاعله قال محمد فإنه قد بدع بي
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Amr Shaybani is Saad bin Iyas, the senior successor, trustworthy and having lived through both the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras.The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 3/1506, no. 1893, in the chapter on Leadership, on the merit of helping a fighter in the cause of Allah, by Abu Dawud, 4/233, no. 5139, in the chapter on Manners, on guiding toward good, by Tirmidhi, 5/41, no. 2671, who said, hasan sahih, and by Ibn Hibban, 220, no. 867, in his Mawarid.The meaning of "abda a bi" is that the way was cut off for me.
