A man was brought before Allah , who asked him, "What did you do in the world?"The man replied, "I did not do even an atom's weight of good that I could hope in."Allah asked him this three times, and on the third time the man said, "My Lord, You had granted me wealth in abundance in the world. I used to deal with people in business, and it was part of my character to overlook the faults of others. I would be lenient with the prosperous and grant respite to the one in difficulty."Allah
said, "We have more right to that than you. Overlook the faults of My servant."So he was forgiven. Abu Masud said, "This is exactly how I heard it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."And another man instructed his family that when he died, they should burn his body, then grind it to powder, then scatter it on a windy day. They did so, but Allah
gathered him together.Allah asked him, "What made you do this?"He said, "My Lord, no servant was more disobedient to You than I, so I hoped to escape."Allah
said, "Overlook the faults of My servant."So he was forgiven. Abu Masud said, "This is exactly how I heard it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Malik is Saad bin Tariq Ashjai, a trustworthy narrator mentioned previously, as is Rabi bin Harash. Huzaifa was his sister's husband, and he is a companion. It is included here only because Abu Masud said, "This is how I heard it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."This hadith was mentioned earlier at 15459 and 11604.
