A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My son was working as a hired hand for this man and committed adultery with his wife. I was told that my son must be stoned, so I ransomed him with a slave girl and a hundred sheep. Then the people of knowledge informed me that my son's punishment is a hundred lashes and exile for a year, and that this man's wife is the one to be stoned." I think he said, "So judge between us by the Book of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, I will surely judge between you by the Book of Allah. As for the sheep and the slave girl, they are returned to you. As for your son, he must receive a hundred lashes and be exiled for a year."Then he said to a man from Aslam called Unays, "Get up, Unays, and go to this man's wife. If she confesses, then stone her."
