He asked the Prophet ﷺ, or a man asked the Prophet ﷺ, about a stray sheep.He replied, "It is for you, or for the wolf."The man asked, "Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a stray camel?"He said, "What concern is it of yours? It has its own water supply and its hooves to travel on, and it can eat from the foliage of trees until its owner finds it."The man asked, "Messenger of Allah, what do you say about silver coins, if I find them?"He said, "Take note of the container, its tie, and the count, then announce it for a year. If the owner comes, hand it over to him. Otherwise, it is yours," or "make use of it," or something similar.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال حدثنا معمر عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل بن أبي طالب عن خالد بن زيد الجهني
أنه سأل النبي ﷺ أو أن رجلا سأل النبي ﷺ عن ضالة راعي الغنم قال هي لك أو للذئب قال يا رسول الله ما تقول في ضالة راعي الإبل قال وما لك ولها معها سقاؤها وحذاؤها وتأكل من أطراف الشجر قال يا رسول الله ما تقول في الورق إذا وجدتها قال اعلم وعاءها ووكاءها وعددها ثم عرفها سنة فإن جاء صاحبها فادفعها إليه وإلا فهي لك أو استمتع بها أو نحو هذا
