Maslama bin Muqlid was governor over the lower part of the land, and he appointed Ruwayfi bin Thabit al-Ansari. We traveled with him from Sharik to Kawm Alqam, or from Kawm Alqam to Sharik.Ruwayfi bin Thabit said, "We used to go on military expeditions during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one of us would take his brother's camel on the condition that he would have half of whatever he gained as spoils. It even reached the point that one of us would end up with the shaft of an arrow while the other took the arrowhead and the feathers."Ruwayfi bin Thabit then said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Ruwayfi, life may be prolonged for you, so inform the people that whoever ties his beard in knots, or wears a bowstring as a necklace, or cleans himself after relieving nature with animal dung or with bone, has disowned what Allah revealed to Muhammad ﷺ.'"
حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق قال حدثنا ابن لهيعة عن عياش بن عباس
كان مسلمة بن مخلد على أسفل الأرض قال فاستعمل رويفع بن ثابت الأنصاري فسرنا معه من شريك إلى كوم علقام أو من كوم علقام إلى شريك قال فقال رويفع بن ثابت كنا نغزو على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فيأخذ أحدنا جمل أخيه على أن له النصف مما يغنم قال حتى أن أحدنا ليصير له القدح وللآخر النصل والريش قال فقال رويفع بن ثابت قال لي رسول الله ﷺ يا رويفع لعل الحياة ستطول بك فأخبر الناس أنه من عقد لحيته أو تقلد وترا أو استنجى برجيع دابة أو عظم فقد برئ مما أنزل الله على محمد ﷺ
