The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the wearing of gold and silk.
حدثنا روح حدثنا عمر بن سعيد بن أبي حسين قال حدثني علي بن علي رجلا من بني عبد شمس قال أبي وعبد الله بن الحارث وحدثني عمر بن سعيد أن علي بن عبد الله بن علي أخبره عن أبيه قال
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن لبس الذهب والحرير
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ali bin Ali is the same as Ali bin Abdullah bin Ali al-Abshami al-Hijazi. Ibn Hibban deemed him trustworthy, 7/212, while Abu Hatim was silent about him, as noted in al-Jarh 6/193, as was Bukhari in al-Kabir 6/284. The hadith has previously appeared at 16807.
