I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressing the people at Khayf, saying, "May Allah brighten the face of a servant who hears my words, retains them, and conveys them to those who have not heard them. For many a bearer of knowledge carries it without understanding it, and many a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who understands it better than he does. Three things over which the heart of a believer harbors no malice, sincerity in deeds, obedience to those in authority, and adherence to the community, for their call encompasses all who follow them."Ibn Ishaq said, Amr bin Abu Amr, the freed slave of Muttalib, narrated to me from Abdul-Rahman bin al-Huwayrith, from Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mutim, from his father, the same as the hadith of Ibn Shihab, neither adding nor omitting anything.
قال حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق قال فذكر محمد بن مسلم بن عبيد الله بن شهاب عن محمد بن جبير بن مطعم
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ وهو يخطب الناس بالخيف نضر الله عبدا سمع مقالتي فوعاها ثم أداها لمن لم يسمعها فرب حامل فقه لا فقه له ورب حامل فقه إلى من هو أفقه منه ثلاث لا يغل عليهن قلب المؤمن إخلاص العمل وطاعة ذوي الأمر ولزوم الجماعة فإن دعوتهم تكون من ورائه و عن ابن إسحاق قال حدثني عمرو بن أبي عمرو مولى المطلب عن عبد الرحمن بن الحويرث عن محمد بن جبير بن مطعم عن أبيه مثل حديث ابن شهاب لم يزد ولم ينقص
