A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and spoke to him about a matter. He gave her certain instructions, and she asked, "Messenger of Allah, what if I do not find you?"He replied, "If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr."
قال حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن أبيه قال أخبرني محمد بن جبير أن
أن امرأة أتت رسول الله ﷺ فكلمته في شيء فأمرها بأمر فقالت أرأيت يا رسول الله إن لم أجدك قال إن لم تجديني فأتي أبا بكر
Its isnad is sahih. Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad bin Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf is trustworthy, as are his father and grandfather, and his grandfather held the judgeship of Wasit.The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 16/7, no. 3659 (Fath), Muslim 4/1856, no. 2386, and Tirmidhi 5/615, no. 3676, who said it is gharib. It also appears in Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi 10/162, no. 3758, where he said it is sahih.
