Someone who heard the Prophet ﷺ told me that the Prophet ﷺ ordered a man to be stoned somewhere between Mecca and Medina. When the man felt the sting of the stones, he broke away and fled. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Why did you not let him go?"

حدثني من سمع النبي ﷺ وأمر برجم رجل بين مكة والمدينة فلما وجد مس الحجارة خرج فهرب فقال النبي ﷺ فهلا تركتموه
