I used to spend the night near the door of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to provide him with his water for ablution. After a long stretch of the night, I would hear him saying, "Allah hears whoever praises Him," and after another long stretch of the night, I would hear him saying, "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
قال حدثنا عبد الملك بن عمرو قال حدثنا هشام عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة قال حدثني
كنت أبيت عند باب رسول الله ﷺ أعطيه وضوءه فأسمعه بعد هوي من الليل يقول سمع الله لمن حمده وأسمعه بعد هوي من الليل يقول الحمد لله رب العالمين
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are leading authorities as well. The hadith is not reversed, rather the night prayer consists of two rakats. He would hear him end the ruku by saying, "Allah hears whoever praises Him," then he would prolong the sujud considerably, then afterward he would hear him begin the second rakat. Thus we see that each narration added a further meaning.
