We went out on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ against Hawazin and Ghatafan. While we were in that situation, a man came on a red camel. He pulled something from the camel's saddle-girth and tied the camel with it, then he came walking until he sat down with us to eat the midday meal.He looked over the people and saw that they had few mounts and most of them were on foot. When he had observed the people, he went out running. He reached his camel, mounted it, and set off galloping, for he was a scout for the disbelievers.A man from us, from Aslam, pursued him on a grey she-camel.Iyas said, my father said, "I followed him running on my feet. The head of the she-camel was at the level of the camel's flank. I caught up with him and was at the level of the she-camel's flank, then I advanced until I was at the level of the camel's flank, then I advanced further until I seized the camel's halter. I said to it, 'Ikh!' When the camel knelt down, I struck its rider down to the ground, drew my sword, and struck his head, which flew off. Then I came leading his mount.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me along with the people."He asked, "Who killed this man?"They replied, "Ibn al-Akwa."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He gets all his spoils."
قال حدثنا بهز بن أسد قال حدثنا عكرمة بن عمار قال حدثنا
غزونا مع رسول الله ﷺ هوازن وغطفان فبينما نحن كذلك إذ جاء رجل على جمل أحمر فانتزع شيئا من حقب البعير فقيد به البعير ثم جاء يمشي حتى قعد معنا يتغدى قال فنظر في القوم فإذا ظهرهم فيه قلة وأكثرهم مشاة فلما نظر إلى القوم خرج يعدو قال فأتى بعيره فقعد عليه قال فخرج يركضه وهو طليعة للكفار فاتبعه رجل منا من أسلم على ناقة له ورقاء قال إياس قال أبي فاتبعته أعدو على رجلي قال ورأس الناقة عند ورك الجمل قال ولحقته فكنت عند ورك الناقة وتقدمت حتى كنت عند ورك الجمل ثم تقدمت حتى أخذت بخطام الجمل فقلت له إخ فلما وضع الجمل ركبته إلى الأرض اخترطت سيفي فضربت رأسه فندر ثم جئت براحلته أقودها فاستقبلني رسول الله ﷺ مع الناس قال من قتل هذا الرجل قالوا ابن الأكوع فقال رسول الله ﷺ له سلبه أجمع
