Zuhri reported,

Sufyan was asked about the one who reported it, and he said, "He is Mahmud, Allah willing, who reported that Itban bin Malik was a man whose eyesight was impaired, and he mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ that he was unable to attend the prayer."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you hear the call to prayer?"He replied, "Yes."So he did not grant him a concession.

فسئل سفيان عمن قال هو محمود إن شاء الله أن عتبان بن مالك كان رجلا محجوب البصر وأنه ذكر للنبي ﷺ التخلف عن الصلاة قال هل تسمع النداء قال نعم قال فلم يرخص له
