I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was saying, "Competition for worldly increase distracts you" [Takathur 102:1]. He said, "The son of Adam says, 'My wealth, my wealth!' But you have nothing from your wealth except what you have eaten and consumed, or what you have worn and worn out, or what you have given in charity and sent forth."
قال حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة وحجاج قال حدثني شعبة قال سمعت قتادة يحدث
انتهيت إلى رسول الله ﷺ وهو يقول ألهاكم التكاثر يقول ابن آدم مالي مالي وما لك من مالك إلا ما أكلت فأفنيت أو لبست فأبليت أو تصدقت فأمضيت
