A hadith reached me about a man who had heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So I bought a camel, fastened my saddle on it, and traveled for a month until I came to him in Sham. There he was, Abdullah bin Unays.I said to the doorkeeper, "Tell him Jabir is at the door."He asked, "Ibn Abdullah?"I said, "Yes."He came out treading on his garment and embraced me, and I embraced him.I said, "A hadith has reached me that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning retribution, and I feared that you might die, or that I might die, before I could hear it."He said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection," or he said, "the servants, naked, uncircumcised, and buhman."We asked, "What is buhman?"He said, "They will have nothing with them. Then He will call out to them in a voice heard by those far away just as those near, 'I am the King, I am the Judge. It is not fitting for any of the people of the Fire to enter the Fire while one of the people of the Garden has a claim against him, until I settle it from him. And it is not fitting for any of the people of the Garden to enter the Garden while one of the people of the Fire has a claim against him, until I settle it from him, even for a slap.'"We asked, "How can that be, when we will come to Allah naked, uncircumcised, and possessing nothing?"He said, "By means of good deeds and bad deeds."
