I passed by an old woman from Banu Tamim who had been stranded at Rabadha. She asked, "Where are you headed?"I replied, "We are headed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She said, "Take me along with you, for I have a need to bring before him."So I entered the mosque, and it was packed with people, with a black banner fluttering. I asked, "What is going on with the people today?"They said, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He intends to dispatch Amr bin As on a mission."I said, "Messenger of Allah, if you see fit to make the Dahna a barrier between us and Banu Tamim, then do so, for it once belonged to us."The old woman became agitated and was seized with indignation. She said, "Messenger of Allah, where would you have your fellow Mudarites driven to?"I said, "Messenger of Allah, I brought this woman here without realizing she would turn out to be my opponent. I seek refuge in Allah from being like the man of old."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "And what did the man of old say?"He said, "You have come upon one well-informed." Sallam says, "This man is a fool. He says the Messenger ﷺ said, 'You have come upon one well-informed.'"He continued, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go on," urging him to continue the story.He said, the people of Aad sent their envoy Qayl, who stayed with Muawiya bin Bakr for a month while he plied him with wine and the two singing girls, the Jaradatan, sang to him. Then he set out until he reached the mountains of Mahra and said, "O Allah, I have not come for a captive to ransom, nor for a sick person to treat. Give Your servant the drink You used to give him, and give Muawiya bin Bakr drink," in gratitude for the wine he had drunk at his house.Then black clouds passed by, and a voice called out, "Take it as ashes, fine ashes, leaving no one of Aad alive."Abu Waail said, it has reached me that the wind sent against them was only the amount that could pass through a ring.

مررت بعجوز بالربذة منقطع بها من بني تميم قال فقالت أين تريدون قال فقلت نريد رسول الله ﷺ قالت فاحملوني معكم فإن لي إليه حاجة قال فقلت فدخلت المسجد فإذا هو غاص بالناس وإذا راية سوداء تخفق فقلت ما شأن الناس اليوم قالوا هذا رسول الله ﷺ يريد أن يبعث عمرو بن العاص وجها قال فقلت يا رسول الله إن رأيت أن تجعل الدهناء حجازا بيننا وبين بني تميم فافعل فإنها كانت لنا مرة قال فاستوفزت العجوز وأخذتها الحمية فقالت يا رسول الله أين تضطر مضرك قلت يا رسول الله حملت هذه ولا أشعر أنها كائنة لي خصما قال قلت أعوذ بالله أن أكون كما قال الأول قال رسول الله ﷺ وما قال الأول قال على الخبير سقطت يقول سلام هذا أحمق يقول الرسول ﷺ على الخبير سقطت قال قال رسول الله ﷺ هيه يستطعمه الحديث قال إن عادا أرسلوا وافدهم قيلا فنزل على معاوية بن بكر شهرا يسقيه الخمر وتغنيه الجرادتان فانطلق حتى أتى على جبال مهرة فقال اللهم إني لم آت لأسير أفاديه ولا لمريض فأداويه فاسق عبدك ما كنت ساقيه واسق معاوية بن بكر شهرا يشكر له الخمر التي شربها عنده قال فمرت سحابات سود فنودي أن خذها رمادا رمددا لا تذر من عاد أحدا قال أبو وائل فبلغني أن ما أرسل عليهم من الريح كقدر ما يجري في الخاتم
