I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ writhing in hunger, unable to find even poor-quality dates to fill his stomach.
حدثنا عمرو بن الهيثم حدثنا شعبة عن سماك بن حرب عن النعمان بن بشير
لقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يلتوي ما يجد ما يملأ به بطنه من الدقل
Its isnad is sahih. Daqal, with fatha on the dal and the qaf, means inferior dates and their dried type.
