He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Being killed is enough of a trial for my companions."

Its isnad is sahih. Haythami said in 8/223, Ahmad and Tabarani reported it with several chains, and the men of Ahmad's chain are the men of the Sahih. It is found in Tabarani, 8/383, number 8196, through the route of Abdullah bin Ahmad, from Muhammad bin Abu Bakr Muqaddami, from Husayn bin Hasan bin Atiya Awfi, from Abu Malik, and also through two other routes.
