Abu Malik reported,

He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that when a person came to him asking, "Messenger of Allah, what should I say when I ask my Lord?" he replied, "Say, 'O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and provide for me.'" He closed his four fingers, leaving out the thumb, and said, "These words gather for you the good of this world and the next."

قال أبي حدثنا يزيد قال

أخبرنا أبو مالك الأشجعي قال حدثني أبي

أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول إذا أتاه الإنسان يقول كيف يا رسول الله أقول حين أسأل ربي قال قل اللهم اغفر لي وارحمني واهدني وارزقني وقبض أصابعه الأربع إلا الإبهام فإن هؤلاء يجمعن لك دنياك وآخرتك
