Ibn Umar used to lease out farmlands. Word reached him that Rafi was reporting a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning this matter, so Ibn Umar went out to meet him at al-Balat and asked him about it. Rafi informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden leasing out farmlands, so Abdullah stopped leasing them out.Ibn Numayr said in his version of the report, "Ibn Umar went to him and I went with him." My father said the same.Muhammad bin Ubayd also narrated it to us, saying, "Ibn Umar went and I went with him."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد وابن نمير قالا حدثنا عبيد الله قال يحيى عن عبيد الله أخبرني
كان ابن عمر يكري المزارع فبلغه أن رافعا يأثر فيه حديثا عن رسول الله ﷺ فخرج إليه ابن عمر إلى البلاط فسأله فأخبره أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن كراء المزارع فترك عبد الله كراءها قال ابن نمير في حديثه فذهب إليه ابن عمر وذهبت معه وكذا قال أبي وحدثناه محمد بن عبيد أيضا قال فذهب ابن عمر وذهبت معه
