It was reported that when Allah accepted the repentance of Abu Lubabah bin Abdul Mundhir, he said, "Messenger of Allah, part of my repentance is that I leave the home of my people and dwell beside you, and that I divest myself of all my wealth as charity for Allah and His Messenger."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "A third of it will suffice from you."

أخبر أن أبا لبابة بن عبد المنذر لما تاب الله عليه قال يا رسول الله إن من توبتي أن أهجر دار قومي وأساكنك وإني أنخلع من مالي صدقة لله ولرسوله فقال رسول الله ﷺ يجزئ عنك الثلث
