Ibn Alqama appointed my father over the leadership of his people and ordered him to collect their charity.My father sent me with a group to bring him their charity. I set out until I came to an elderly man called Saar. I said to him, "My father has sent me to you so that you may pay the charity due on your sheep."He asked, "Nephew, what manner of collection do you take?"I replied, "We select them, and we even measure the udders of the sheep."He said, "Nephew, let me tell you something. I was in one of these mountain passes with sheep of mine during the time of the Prophet ﷺ when two men came to me on a camel. They said, 'We are the messengers of the Prophet ﷺ sent to you so that you may pay the charity due on your sheep.'I asked, 'What is due on them?'They said, 'A sheep.'So I went to a sheep whose location I knew, full of milk and fat, and brought her out to them. They said, 'This is a pregnant ewe, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden us from taking a pregnant one.'I said, 'Then what shall I give?'They said, 'A young she-goat in its second year, or one in its third.'So I went to a goat that was mutata." He explained, "A mutata is one that has not yet given birth but whose time of birthing has come." "I brought her out to them, and they said, 'Hand her over.' So I gave her to them, and they placed her with them on their camel and departed."Abdullah said, I heard my father say, "This is how Waki said it, Muslim bin Thafana, but he made a scribal error. Rawh said it is Ibn Shuba, and that is correct."My father said, Bishr bin al-Sari said, "There is no god but Allah, here is his son right here," meaning Muslim bin Shuba.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا زكريا بن إسحاق عن عمرو بن أبي سفيان سمعه من
استعمل ابن علقمة أبي على عرافة قومه وأمره أن يصدقهم قال فبعثني أبي في طائفة لآتيه بصدقتهم قال فخرجت حتى أتيت شيخا كبيرا يقال له سعر فقلت إن أبي بعثني إليك لتؤدي صدقة غنمك قال يا ابن أخي وأي نحو تأخذون قلت نختار حتى إنا لنشبر ضروع الغنم قال ابن أخي فإني أحدثك أني كنت في شعب من هذه الشعاب في غنم لي على عهد النبي ﷺ فجاءني رجلان على بعير فقالا نحن رسولا النبي ﷺ إليك لتؤدي صدقة غنمك قلت ما علي فيها قالا شاة فأعمد إلى شاة قد علمت مكانها ممتلئة محضا وشحما فأخرجتها إليهما فقالا هذه الشافع الحائل وقد نهانا رسول الله ﷺ أن نأخذ شافعا قلت فأي شيء قالا عناقا جذعة أو ثنية قال فأعمد إلى عناق معتاط قال والمعتاط التي لم تلد ولدا وقد حان ولادها فأخرجتها إليهما فقالا ناولناها فدفعتها إليهما فجعلاها معهما على بعيرهما ثم انطلقا قال عبد الله سمعت أبي يقول كذا قال وكيع مسلم بن ثفنة صحف وقال روح ابن شعبة وهو الصواب وقال أبي وقال بشر بن السري لا إله إلا الله هو ذا ولده هاهنا يعني مسلم بن شعبة
