Muslim bin Thafana reported,

The son of Alqama appointed his father as supervisor over the affairs of his people. Muslim said, "He sent me to collect the charity from a group of my people."He continued, "I went out until I came to an old man called Saar in one of the mountain valleys. I said to him, 'My father has sent me to you so that you may give me the charity due on your sheep.'He replied, 'My nephew, in what manner do you take it?'I said, 'We take the best of what we find.'The old man said, 'I was in one of these valleys with my sheep when two men came to me riding together on a single camel. They said, We are two messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, sent to you so that you may give us the charity due on your sheep.I asked, And what is that? They answered, A single sheep. So I went to a sheep whose place I knew, full of milk and fat, and brought her out to them. They said, This is a shafi, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden us to take a shafi. A shafi is one carrying young in her belly.I said, Then what will you take? They said, A young she-goat, a young sheep entering its second year, or one entering its third year.So I brought out to them a young she-goat. They said, Hand her over to us. They took her and placed her with them upon their camel.'"
