The Prophet ﷺ began the Fajr prayer on the day of the Conquest and recited Surah al-Muminun. When he reached the mention of Musa and Harun, a fit of coughing overtook him, so he bowed.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا ابن جريج عن محمد بن عباد المخزومي
أن النبي ﷺ افتتح الصلاة يوم الفتح في الفجر فقرأ بسورة المؤمنين فلما بلغ ذكر موسى وهارون أصابته سعلة فركع
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Abbad bin Jafar did not omit the intermediary between himself and Abdullah bin Saaib, rather he narrates from him directly, and Abdullah bin Saaib was his maternal grandfather. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1/336, no. 163, in the Book of Prayer, the chapter on the morning prayer, and Abu Dawud, 1/175, no. 649, in the Book of Prayer, the chapter on praying in sandals, and Nasai, 2/176, no. 1007, in the Book of the Opening, the chapter on reciting part of a surah, and Ibn Majah, 1/269, no. 820, in the Book of Establishing Prayer, the chapter on recitation in the Fajr prayer.
