A group of the Prophet's ﷺ companions visited Jabir, and he brought out bread and vinegar for them. He said, "Eat, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'What an excellent condiment vinegar is. It is ruinous for a man, when his brothers come to visit him, to think too little of what is in his house to offer it to them, and it is ruinous for people to look down on what is offered to them.'"
حدثنا أسباط بن محمد حدثنا عبد الله بن الوليد الوصافي
دخل على جابر نفر من أصحاب النبي ﷺ فقدم إليهم خبزا وخلا فقال كلوا فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول نعم الإدام الخل إنه هلاك بالرجل أن يدخل عليه النفر من إخوانه فيحتقر ما في بيته أن يقدمه إليهم وهلاك بالقوم أن يحتقروا ما قدم إليهم
Its chain is daif because of Ubaydullah bin Walid Wassafi. The hadith is sahih and has already appeared at 14863.
