A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the times of prayer. He said, "Pray with me."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Fajr when dawn broke, then prayed Dhuhr when the sun had passed its zenith, then prayed Asr when a person's shadow was equal to his height, then prayed Maghrib when the sun set, then prayed Isha when the twilight disappeared.The next day, he prayed Fajr when it had grown light, then prayed Dhuhr when a person's shadow was equal to his height, then prayed Asr when a person's shadow was twice his height, then prayed Maghrib just before the twilight disappeared, then prayed Isha. Some said at a third of the night, and others said at half of it.

سأل رجل رسول الله ﷺ عن وقت الصلاة فقال صل معي فصلى رسول الله ﷺ الصبح حين طلع الفجر ثم صلى الظهر حين زاغت الشمس ثم صلى العصر حين كان فيء الإنسان مثله ثم صلى المغرب حين وجبت الشمس ثم صلى العشاء حين غيبوبة الشفق ثم صلى الصبح فأسفر ثم صلى الظهر حين كان فيء الإنسان مثله ثم صلى العصر حين كان فيء الإنسان مثليه ثم صلى المغرب قبل غيبوبة الشفق ثم صلى العشاء فقال بعضهم ثلث الليل وقال بعضهم شطره
