The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pour water over his head three times. Shuba said, "I think this was regarding the bath from major impurity."A man from Banu Hashim said, "My hair is thick."Jabir replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had thicker and finer hair than yours."

أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يفرغ على رأسه ثلاثا قال شعبة أظنه في الغسل من الجنابة فقال رجل من بني هاشم إن شعري كثير فقال جابر كان رسول الله ﷺ أكثر شعرا منك وأطيب
Its isnad is sahih. Muhawwal is Ibn Rashid Nahdi, who is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in all the major collections. Muhammad bin Ali is Ibn Husayn, Abu Jafar Baqir Hashimi, who is trustworthy and virtuous. The hadith has already appeared at 11448.
