The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "For a man to take a rope, gather firewood with it, bring it to the market and sell it, then use the earnings to support himself, is better for him than asking people, whether they give him or refuse him."
حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن هشام عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ لأن يحمل الرجل حبلا فيحتطب به ثم يجيء فيضعه في السوق فيبيعه ثم يستغني به فينفقه على نفسه خير له من أن يسأل الناس أعطوه أو منعوه

Its isnad is sahih. Hafs bin Ghiyath bin Talq bin Muawiya is trustworthy, reliable, and a jurist. Hisham is Ibn Urwa bin Zubayr. Bukhari narrated the hadith in 3:265, as did Ibn Majah. It will come again at 1429.
